Last Day in Paris

I'm afraid that this post is not going to be as complete as I had hoped. The hotel's wifi is working too slowly to upload pictures. So, there will be that many more with the epilogue.

Today, we had a guided visit to the Musée d'Orsay, the museum of Impressionism. It was pretty wonderful. Then we had a picnic lunch in the Tuileries Gardens. That's about as Parisian as you can get!

The afternoon was the visit to the Louvre, the largest art museum in the world. We got to see the Mona Lisa, the Coronation of Josephine, the raft of the Medusa, the Venus de Milo and the Winged Victory.

It was a little tough because it was really hot in the museum, it was wall to wall people (from all over the world). The rules required us to stay in one group when it would have been much easier to divide into two. Thus, we cut our planned three hours to just two.

From there we went to a quaint, quiet square for a little relaxation. After that, we saw the Paris Opera House, Vendôme Square (where the Ritz Hotel is), and Concorde Square with its Egyptian obelisk and fountains.

Then it was off to buy a picnic dinner, which we ate in the literal shadow of the Eiffel Tower. It was a really great ending to a power-packed day.

Please watch for the epilogue within the week.
